Ready to level up your mountaineering skills?
Join Alpinistas Adventures on on Mt. Shasta for this 3 day / 2 night intensive mountaineering course.
Participants will delve into a comprehensive curriculum covering essential techniques for navigating ice, snow, and glaciers, along with crucial rescue skills and mastering roped team travel.
Gain hands-on experience in technical ice climbing, anchor placement, and rescue systems such as C and Z pulleys.
This course equips you with the indispensable skills for safe and successful glacier and big mountain ascents.
Plus, you’ll be supported by members of the Alpinistas Adventures team to learn and bond together in a supportive environment, Alpinistas style.

Mountaineering: Hiking uphill in snow
This trip is rated Intermediate + Advanced.
Previous hiking and backpacking experience is required.
Previous rock, snow, or mountaineering is helpful.
Good fitness and endurance is required.
Expect to spend three days on an exposed mountain slope with unremitting sun & wind exposure.
We recommend that you stay well hydrated and fed prior to departure to assist in mitigating altitude sickness if you are coming from sea level.

After you book your reservation, you will receive a confirmation email with some action items. (Please check promotions and spam folder if you don’t receive a confirmation immediately.)
As you start to get closer to your event date, you will receive additional emails confirming itinerary details, packing list and other important or helpful supplemental information such as start time and driving directions. You will also have someone from our office reach out to discuss any questions that you might have.
The week of the event, you should be ready to go and you will receive a final email introducing your guides, providing you with their contact information and other last minute notes.

Redding (RDD) Airport which is roughly 60 miles away or Medford (MFR) 80 miles away.

Expect to experience very warm days on the snow with extreme sun and chilly nights. This is an exposed mountain area with the potential for high wind and sudden precipitation. Plan for variable temperatures.

Layering is the key to staying comfortable while being active outdoors. The secret to achieving maximum comfort with minimum weight is to bring versatile layers that can be mixed and matched to create the right amount of insulation, ventilation, and weather protection.
When packing, try to bring only what you need. This not only makes your load lighter but also helps our amazing field staff.
